COLLIN COUNTY: The Collin County edition, launched by The News on March 31, gives that county's readers a seven-day-a-week report that highlights municipal, education, sports and entertainment news that hits closest to home, along with regional, state, national and international news.

OTHER COMMUNITY NEWS: Readers in Denton County, northeast Tarrant County, northwest and southwest Dallas County, Garland, Grand Prairie, Irving, Mesquite, the Park Cities, Richardson and Rockwall/Rowlett receive zoned sections of The News up to three times a week. The daily Metropolitan section features comprehensive local news, education coverage and the latest on traffic.

REGIONAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COVERAGE: News bureaus in Oklahoma and throughout Texas provide regional coverage, and reporters in Washington, D.C., and around the globe ­ including Mexico, Cuba and the rest of Latin America ­ keep readers on the leading edge of world events.

AL DIA: The News will create a Spanish-language daily newspaper in October to serve the fast-growing Hispanic population in North Texas. The new paper will focus coverage on local, international (especially from Latin America), sports and lifestyle/entertainment news. It will include a full array of advertising, including classified, ad inserts and special sections. The content and advertising will be geared toward Spanish-speaking and bilingual readers. Separate news and sales staffs will provide unique content, as well as have support from The Dallas Morning News' departments. It will have its own Web site at www.aldiatx.com. Al Dia will offer the most frequent and the most complete printed Spanish-language coverage in Texas.

WFAA-TV (Channel 8): News 8 broadcasts lead the market and provide a constant flow of updated local news in the morning and at noon, 5, 6 and 10 p.m. The station's exclusive Doppler Net radar keeps communities safe with the earliest, most reliable warnings and detailed information on severe weather from Troy Dungan and his team of meteorologists.
